I am certain it will be an absolute nightmare of a winter. I would put pennies on this. A professional metiorologist, my Grandma told that this would be so.
She has noticed squirrels hiding an unusual abundance of nuts this fall. She predicted this cruel winter, and I will not believe otherwise - she has many years of cold weather experience.
I am sure these fur's of evil are eating other tasty and expensive people food when they have the opportunity - like wedding cake!
A year ago I was writing:
bash script to check and report the status of selected processes
I was nonchalantly entering my apartment.. from three ends of the room I hear shivering beeps and warning lights... I investigated further,
and everything looked all right. I was wrong - the up-step conversion was fooling my common sense. I went to turn on a light and it slowly came forth from a dull fade until a half working night lamp.
The unimportant power segment of my apartment I noticed was down, the inverters were keeping my servers and network alive.
My mother lives just a couple blocks down, so I gave her a call to see if anything strange was going on down the street.. (yes, she DOES live that close - we get along pretty good).
"Andy, I have to call you back, the power poll just exploded and is on fire - I am calling the fire department". O.K. - still not knowing exactly what was going on, still getting a readout of 40 volts comeing through the lines.
Though as she said, the sun sky brightened even lighter with white flashes and a firey top of a pole.
The electric then went out completely and batteries were holding this place together. After a while, the battery back-ups died, and I, with half of the south side of this city were without heat and electricity.
Four hours later, and just minutes before starting this post (after making sure my network was in order) there was light, I turned off my flashlight, and was honestly disappointed as during this time I was enjoying a drop of my 2007 Tamil Santalum Album infused to my body.
Back to earth, and the hot hot indoors with a cold cold outdoor environment - these computers will start to generate once more...
