THE SPEW - Land where drunk cows swim and home to my daily hand...

the sound of silence

20 September, 2006 13:06

Noise pollution has been such a complex and integral part of my life. Almost every where I have lived, their have been traffic noises, and on my part, the roar of computer beeps and fans.

It has been so long since I have experienced a peace in this sense. It somehow changes my emotional state, which is usually uptite and anxiouse, to a calm and relaxed flow.

I plan on making an effort to reduce the distractions on my day to day life. I think this is a key part of what it might take to find serenity back home in Madison.

Random Thought : For some reason I have the rugrats theme song stuck in my head... I think I need to relieve myself - Nikelodeon!

love that mountain high

19 September, 2006 14:46

I am safely in South Dakota, pretty darn close to Rushmore. Thinking back on the few times I have made the trip out here, their has always been something that kept our attention through the long voyage of the black hole prarie land.

Heading out of Lax, it was a cool 60 degrees or so (maybe a little cooler, but I wasn't paying much attention to that), and alas we ran into, what fealt like 80 degree weather accompanied by some major storm systems. Their were tornados everywhere, so we contacted Doug, my uncle and had him guide us to safety by help of the TV news and a good old map. However, not before we saw a tornadoe in our path. I took an ok picture of it, and plan on posting it as soon as I can get some hi-speed internet connectivity.

Sunday we headed to Deadwood. I did win a big chunk of money, but the next day I lost it and a few dollars more... damn blackjack, it just wasn't my lucky day - really!

On the way back, we ran into some heavy snow.. it was almost blizzard like, but not as fierce as lax with the cumulations. It was a rollar coaster ride in that car though. Those whom know me can imagine my tension. It was mostly fun though.

The next couple days I will be trying to get into shape. We head out to Yellowstone on Friday and don't know when I will be back.

On a side note, if a mountain lion gets me, track it down and hang it on your wall...

Random Thought : What's with these turkeys? I am tempted to have one for supper.

back-packing in the backcountry of Yellowstone

13 September, 2006 16:47

I leave today for a journy to the backcountry of Yellowstone. I have never been back-packing like this, so you can imagine my excitement. On the way, I will be spending a few days in South Dakota before my uncle and I depart.

To start my vacation, I will be spending tonight at my buddies cabin, and from there to La Crosse, then on to South Dakota.

You can be sure I will post here as often as I can.

Random Thought : A loving heart attracts no compashion, a giving spirit and loving heart has sacrifices, though it results in the return of both love and compashion... funny creatures, are we not?

bling bling, compiz?

12 September, 2006 18:40

I was thinking to myself just a couple hours ago about getting laid. A tasty smuck or sleeze, or something of that sort. I then discovered a link in my bookmarks that I have forgotten about for a couple of days (while trying to find my trusty smut torrent site). Let me tell you, the results are much like a fine round ass, or the provided accessories, which usually are placed appropriatly (I do cross my fingers) - mind bending, literaly.

Xgl and Compiz bling bling.. for those in the Dapper user community... An eligant combination of visual pleasure. If you like the newer MAC OS visual trickery, and have an Ubuntu Dapper installation, here are some pretty straight forward directions for lubbing up your desktop.

BEWARE BEWARE: check your hardware requirments, since you might need to pop a Viagra to get this beast working the way you want.

Random Thought : Balls and chains may break my bones, but Xgl and Compiz will make me not care!

"Thousands of Wisconsin residents deliver a message to Senator Kohl: Defend Internet Freedom"

It was truly a satisfying experience delivering the massive box of petitions up to Senator Kohl's office. It is interesting to note however, that the representative informed us he was undecided on just about every issue regarding net neutrality.

In any case, I did get a few pictures, and they can be found here.

Random Thought : Apple pie for breakfast, it's my way.
