About Spew
My education is in Computer Network Technologies. I use my free thought, when any thoughts are present, to write and produce content in a wide spectrum format flow. One day I may explain a method for accomplishing a task on a BSD operating system, or spewing about my latest Sandalwood acquisition, and other times I will keep my thoughts I put to the screen more personal and opinionated with my current gush of text in relation to my tempered mood.

Too pissed for beer, so here are a couple files with the repository resources...
This is a yum dump of packages available, with installed packages ommited
packages.provided.by.godaddy.repositories.txt
This is a filtered text file of the above with their updates-released repository packages

Remember my post not too long back talking about Fedora Core 4 updated packages and it's availability? I also asked a question in that post about the method in which GoDaddy would push these updates if they decided to take over Core 4 package security updates.
I will start by describing my first suprise after logging into the server. BASH now has the --color alias. This didn't hit me at first, but then I remember being too lazy to change the environment variable for the superuser. I just thought this was odd and carried on.
I just got turned on to htop, a replacement for top. After firing it up I noticed that the virtual server farm got a downgrade in memory, now only 6GB, 6GB swap, and 4 2.8Ghz Xeon processors. So wow, I was moved to a server and off of the farm. This is all right I thought, not knowing about other changes.
I did a uname -a and noticed I was no longer using a fc4 kernel, but instead a RedHat enterprise 4 2.6 kernel, of all the chips in the bag. I was now thinking, this is a little weird. They didn't send me an e-mail or any type of notification.
Now knowing this, and noticing I have shell color, I knew they accessed my filesystem without my permission or with notice. I started to get a little pissed and decided to look around a bit more.
I fired up yum to check some versions and noticed after trying to do an update for shits and giggles (I fried the repositories GPG files for direct from Fedora updates and was too lazy to fix it and decided to compile everything from source from then on, because of the update issue), and it updated three repositories, which just wasn't possible.
Well, I didn't believe it back at my last post, but they took over package updates for fc4. Now I was pissed and weirded out at the same time. Again they accessed my filesystem to make the required mirror url changes directing them to GoDaddy's servers.
I then browsed the three repositories they took over: core, extras, and there very own updates-released.
I decided to play with updating a package I had installed, when I then noticed, with stars falling from the floor (how odd), that they did a system wide upgrade with these new repository sources.
I am going to go get drunk now, this will be touched upon much more when I cool down.

I ran into a hitch when switching Internet services from the local cable company to the telephone provider here. Without going into detail, I will not have internet until Thursday of next week. It is rough waters, but I am getting by with using the school's computer labs.
Before my move to La Crosse, or possibly during my move, my Sandalwood essential oil was taken. I had 45ml in several bottles, all distilled in 2002. What saddens me the most is the thief probably has no idea that the good smelling bottles of liquid are valued at over $900 bucks. I hope they figure that out before they waste such a precious and almost irreplaceable sandalwood.
I filled out a police report and submitted a claim to my insurance company. The claim went through, which was probably a strange investigation for the claims office trying to figure out why the value increases almost 100% per year. In any case, they gave me the full replacement cost minus my $250 deductible. I have 10ml coming in the mail within the next couple of days, and I will purchase the rest once I submit my receipts to the insurance agency. I am lucky I am getting any replacement at all, because of the quantity that my distributor has left of that years batch. I might be able to squeeze 15 or 20ml more from them, after having a chat and explaining my predicament, but that will deplete what they have available, for ever, and from others forever more.
I remember my last purchase of a 15ml vial costing about $65, now finding it in that quantity is nearly impossible and just 1/3, or 5ml of the oil is $95, or around $300 for the entire vial. It is an investment that I will keep a tighter eye on for now on.
School started last Monday, and it was a rather exciting experience to be back in the class room setting. Not too mention the school perks, such as the free bus rides for the semester, among other things. I was unable to make it to class Friday because of a bronchial infection and fever. The doctor didn't want me to attend, so he wrote me an excuse form. I suppose if I am going to miss, the first couple weeks are the time to do it, because of review of common class related literature.
I feel like I have arthritis; every bone in my body aches, not to mention the coughing, congestion, exploding eye balls because of the fever, and almost total loss of hearing in my right ear. This sucks.
My mother's old tenants left a computer behind. I wasn't very excited at first, and didn't give it much consideration to take it home, but I ended up doing just that - just for the hell of it. I am glad I did. It is a 1ghz pentium III with 256mb of ram, nvidia TNT2 video card, and several USB ports which make it a perfect candidate for my file server I have been pondering on. With no internet, the only thing I have been able to do with it so far is set it up as a printer server. My desk is just about full, so it is nice having the printer on the other side of the room where space is a little more abundant. My plans are to buy an SATA card that can Handle raid mirroring and two 400GB drives. That should satisfy my important storage needs. I will also move my external NAS to the system, using USB and samba instead of its built in network access features. Along for the ride will be a small IDE drive which is heating up my desktop box.
For a while I was using a two button mouse with no scroll wheel. My old mouse bit the dust. I finally ordered a replacement RF Targus mouse, which I am in love with, along with a replacement CPU heat sink and fan. I can barely hear the computer, and I was pleasantly surprised to find I could purchase a low db level fan for a reasonable price.
The LCD I purchased is still working, so I will give it another week or two before concluding that it will last for a few years. I have no experience with Westinghouse, and it was so damn cheap, so at this point I am still a little cautious with it.
I don't have any extraordinary squirrel news for the week, but I did see a black bushy tailed rat eating some sour skittles off the ground, probably storing it for regurgitation, for use with their plans to dominate the world.

Funny thing happened to me this afternoon. In the process of moving a domain over to a different server, I noticed that my blog from a few months ago was resolving as the home page. So, I thought, that is the most fucked up thing that will happen this week.
What I did was move the domain, which wasn't being used, over to the shared hosting account that I completely forgot about. Even though the name servers were the new ones, because it was listed as the account name for the shared hosting, it was using that.
Believe me, I was baffeled and in awe for a couple minutes. If I only had a picture of my face.

Here I am without rolling papers and a bag of tobacco. I glanced over at the empty packet of Top rolling papers and took special notice to the blue, cigarette type liners which were once separating the paper from it's container.
I searched high and low on the net trying to find out if these rolling paper look-a-likes were toxic, or smokable. After finding nothing, I was fed up and decided to give it a try.
They are NOT smokeable. It tasted like the char you would scrap off of grilled food, or off the grill itself. I hope I am able to stop just one person from the constant spit and gargle that I have been doing for the last hour or so. So I am telling you, whomever is reading this wondering just as I did, they are just for looks, nothing more.
