on the market in search for the perfect aged sandalwood

01 March, 2006 10:33

It's time for my yearly order of sandalwood. I have been shopping around, looking for alternatives to Mysore sandalwood. Australian sandalwood doesn't quite agree with me, except in synergies.

The last time I ordered, I obtained two 15ml bottles of sandalwood from Tamil. This batch was incredible, so I decided to store a bottle away and let it age a bit. I am thinking I will pop it open in 10 years or so. It was distilled in 2002 and already the bottle I have open smells incredible.

Just to add, I also have two 2ml bottles of Tamil sandalwood distilled in 2000. Already 6 years old, and like nothing I have experienced before. I will probably never touch these, except to occasionaly crack it open to take a whiff.

Already, since the last time I ordered, the price has risen dramaticaly. There is a herbal supply store up the street I haven't been to yet. I will check that out first. If I can't find the right sandalwood, in all it's perfection, I will order online from my regular distributor.

I have a lot of faith in Nature's Gift also. Once in a while I will order from Aromathyme (I love there sandalwood blend).

I order tea every once in a while from Mountain Rose Herbs, and I always grab a bottle of Clary Sage when doing so. I absolutely love their oil, while at the same time I find that most of the other essential oils they carry are sub-par to Nature's Gift.

Every once in a while I will order from Green Valley Aromatherapy. Their Australian Sandalwood is exceptional in my opinion. They also offer competitive wholesale prices and offer gas chromatography data.

I recently made a purchase from Essential Wholesale. I now have more lavender than I know what to do with, so I am giving some away to friends and family. They are reasonably priced, but I have found that I am attracted to lavenders from alternative sources just a tad more.

I am always looking to try new oils from various distributors - where do you order from?
